In this endless winter - well - for most of the country, summer can't come soon enough. And in four months, summer brings my mom's third trip to Europe. And, unless you've been highly misled, you can bet my planning is in full force.
Since I wasn't happy with what I was finding on AirBNB or Homeway, I've booked us in the heart of the West End at the Hilton Marble Arch. It's close to everything and overall, I feel better that we're not in someone's home. I can make a crime scene mess and let the maid clean it up!
My friend Serge is making plans to join us from Belgium and I still haven't decided if we'll take the train for a day trip to my favorite city in the world - Paris. I know my mom would love to go back, but a quick day trip might be a little too hectic.
However, I've already gotten us tickets to the Tower of London, and I was really happy to find out that the tickets are good for seven days from the date you choose since I haven't decided what day we'll visit the attraction. Maybe a casual day around the city the day after we get there because on the fourth of July, we've got a jam packed day as we step into the world of Harry Potter!
It was the other night, by chance, that I googled Harry Potter, London - and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour was first on the list. A chance to walk on the actual sets and see how the books came to life and drink Butterbeer? Are you kidding me? I got us tickets right then and there. My mom and I saw the first two films and the last installment together and what amazing fun it's going to be to see the sets that brought us so much enjoyment. So, while the United States celebrates her Independence, Rosemarie and I will be transported to the Great Hall at Hogwarts. Happy Birthday, America.
Getting to the studio, I've elected for a charter bus, but since we want to spend more time at the studio, we'll probably grab a shuttle to the Tube later that night. After I informed Rosemarie of the plans she quickly wrote back that "I'm sticking to you like glue. Whatever you do is fine with me."
I do love when people leave me in charge, but I guess I can't leave her endlessly riding London's Underground, after all.
